It makes me think of John Calvin and Calvin Klein underwear adverts, and since I'm neither a Christian nor a fan of men's underwear, those aren't overwhelmingly positive associations for me. The meaning is unfortunate too.

Not the best meaning. Yeah, it sort of bothers me. I also think of Calvin Klein. Cal is a nice nickname though.In general I don't really like it. Calum is better.
