Dislike both, no particular reason other than the sound isn't pleasant to me.

I like Gerald but don't like the Rard in Gerard. I prefer Jared over both.

Gerald isn't bad, but I don't think I'd ever want to use it. If I did, it would be as a mn only, because I really find Gerry (or Jerry) unattractive. I don't enjoy Geraldine for a girl either.Gerard reminds me pleasantly of Gerard Manley Hopkins; I'd be more likely to use it than Gerald.Edied to change typo: nn to mn.

I think they're both a bit dated, though I do like Gerald

Gerard is more suave and sleek than Gerald, but Gerald isn't without it's own handsomeness.I find myself disliking how easily Gerald gets shortened to "Jerry" though, a nickname I despise.
