The omnipresent dog name in my life is Dakota / Koda. Bizarre!
A grandfatherly name would be cute: Arnold (my maternal grandfather's name), Eugene, Roy, Gerard, Luther, etc.

My landlord has a golden retriever/chow mix named Dakota.

My mother had some neighbors a few years ago who had maybe five or six dogs, and I can't remember what the one female was called. I want to say Rose or Rosie, but I don't think so because the lady's name was Rosemary.
Anyway, the males were named Jackson, Donald, Eugene and Randall.
