Being of Filipino descent, I wouldn't use it because it means "grandmother" in Tagalog. It's a term that you would use not only for your actual grandmother but also in a respectful way for female relatives and friends who are of a similar age to what a grandmother would be, like you would also call your grandmother's friends or your great aunt "Lola" as well. For example, if my grandmother was named Elizabeth, I would call her "Lola Elizabeth" or "Lola" with her preferred nickname after that. I guess if I didn't need to consider the above, then I would only use "Lola" as a nickname only.

It’s okay, but my two images are an overly sweet little princess (like Lola Loud from the Loud House), and a stereotypically sexy woman.

I get a very clear picture of brassy, dated, rather pathetic sexiness. Huge, heavily-sprayed and badly-dyed hair, overly tight jeans, spiky shoes, garish makeup, chain-smoker, loud, phony laughter.

It's just always seemed kind of silly to me.

I met her in a club down in old Soho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola - C-o-l-a, cola.
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance. I asked her her name and in a dark-brown voice she said 'Lola' - L-o-l-a, Lola.
Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
How she walked like a woman and talked like a man ...One of the greatest songs of all time, I hope it's earworming lots of people right now; and Lola is the very model of a sweet transvestite. Apart from that, the only Lola I've ever known was a friendly black spaniel. I'd hesitate to use it on a human, for both reasons.

♫ Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair ♫It's okay. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.
