I used to love reading Mary Sue Harry Potter fics for fun, lol. Great times.
As I recall, back in the day I swear every other second Mary Sue was named Selena or Selene. It seemed to be everywhere back then, but I'm not sure it still retains that popularity in present day. Flowery, sparkling names were so in vogue, like Sapphira, Azalea, Delphine, Jade, Ambrosia, Rosamund, Seraphina, etc. Basically dazzling, obscure names that made you go "ooh ahhh, I wish I was named that". The rarer the better.
And that's not even scratching the surface of Harry Potter OC Mary Sue trends. So many Cassiopeia's...

Well, I believe that Mary is your best bet, lol. Anyways, I think that names like Carolyn, Sierra, and Alyssa could help them stand out. I never see a Mary Sue OC named any of those names, personally.

Back in my day, a Mary Sue was a self-insert by the author. So maybe pick a name that you wish you had? Or that you think is really cool.
