Oaklynn and
Oakley are both pretty unpopular with people on the forum, but in the "real world" they are liked by plenty of people.
I'm not sure where the Oak- trend came from. Maybe it started with people using the
Oakley surname, which is famous in North
America because of
Annie Oakley. And I guess it was an easy transition to turn -ley into -lynn. Maybe
Oaklynn gets judgement because it's like a double-trendy name; it's based on a surname AND it's part of the -lynn trend, which a lot of people are really tired of.
I kinda like
Oakley and
Oaklynn as guilty pleasures. They are hokey and ugly, but I find that endearing. I have a soft spot for them. I find them impossible to combo, though. Everything just looks wrong to me.
