There's a real life one that always gets a snort out of me. I was at a wedding years ago and I overheard this guy having a conversation about what he was going to name his future daughter. He said right out the gate, "Well my last name is Ness, so I can't name her anything that starts with an A!" He further explained that because if her name ever got shortened to only her first initial...
I never forgot that. So then when I worked in a bookstore, I happened to fall upon an author by the name of Patrick Ness. I was laughing inwardly and couldn't tell anybody.
