Re: Charlotte
It was my grandmother's name. I have a friend with a 8 or 9 year old named it who goes by Charlie (I don't like that as a NN for it). I think its popularity right now is associated with British royalty plus it sounds like Scarlett, and both of those things make me like it less. Though I like soft Cha* names in general (Charlize, Charlene, Charmaine, Chantal), it seems fairly classic, and I would consider it as an honoring middle name, if I was planning on having kids.Current earworm: "Little Dark Age (in Classical Latin)"

I think people generally choose Scarlett because of familiarity with Charlotte, a well established favorite for centuries. Not the other way around.
Sure, though I think people use Scarlett because of Scarlett Johansson and Gone With the Wind (Rhett has also risen) plus maybe they like the color.I meant that during this wave of Charlotte's popularity, it seems associated with Scarlett due to similarity in sound and timing of its rise, which diminishes my liking of it a bit, compared to back when I mainly associated it with my grandmother.
