I never liked Abel precisely because it sounds exactly like able, and disability or not, who really wants that as a name? And the Biblical Abel was nothing special; only reason anyone even remembers him was his brother killed him. Cain and Abel.
This kid is going to have enough ignorant people making assumptions and comments about him. Whether he is capable of understanding the insult or not, his parents will understand it and now before he's born they can say oh, it doesn't matter, they'll find anything to laugh at we don't care, hahahah. But it'll be a whole nother ball game once he's actually born and they have to tell people his name is Abel and yes, he has a disability.
It's just dumb. Like deliberately calling attention to something that will call plenty of attention to itself.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
