Re: Colette Or Cosette?
I like Colette a lot, it's very intellectual, edgy and classy. But I'll admit that I find Cosette nicer to say, and the nickname Cosy is very cute, though it is kind of a tacky name. It's historically tacky at least, since it's from a classic novel. I think I would hesitate to choose Cosette for a kid, though, because I don't really have any feelings about Les Mis, and I'm sure any Cosette would get comments her entire life about her parents loving Les Mis. That's just false advertising.Cosette is much softer and more down to earth, in a way. I think of one of those Americana girls who loves polaroid cameras, Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. In that sense, it doesn't age well, for me - I have trouble picturing a Cosette that is older than 21. In contrast, Colette is sharply sophisticated, alert, and aggressively artistic. I think of abstract expressionism and glossy, angular haircuts and Alexander Calder mobiles. Unlike Cosette, Colette was born 39 years old and she ages like a fine wine.Colette is one of those names that I think mixes well with names from other cultures. Instead of looking disjointed, it looks worldly.Colette Lelise
