Peter or Patrick?
When i was expecting my third son, he's now 10, i had the name Mark picked out, but my dh didn't want another name starting with "m" as my other son is named Michael. So i decided on Peter, but he liked Patrick and i didn't like it at the time, the due date was nearing so eventually i went with Patrick. Now i love the name Patrick, and i'm glad i went with it. Peter is just so plain next to Patrick. Patrick is just so handsome, his nn is Patch. Did i make the right decision? Thanks.http://www.GlitterMaker.com/ - Glitter Graphicshttp://www.GlitterMaker.com/ - GlitterGirls~G

Historical NoteAccording to the book Scottish Christian Names by Leslie Alan Dunkling (1978), in Scotland prior to the 20th century, it was a common misconception that Peter was a nickname for Patrick, due to the Gaelic spelling of Patrick (Patair/Padair). So, you could have compromised on Patrick nickname Peter (or Patair)

I like Patrick so much better. My only hesitation with Patrick is the possible nn of Pat which I very much dislike. But it looks like you've solved that with Patch. Cute! :)Britney Tamber

It sounds like you did make the right decision, since you seem to like Patrick better than Peter. I, on the other hand, like Peter much more than Patrick. That said, I think the nn Patch is absolutely adorable!Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI wanna go to the crappy town where I'm a hero.

Patrick has a bit more 'snap' than Peter, but I have to admit that I like Peter better. To me it has a delightful old-fashioned charm to it. Patrick is popular as well, while Peter is used less.

Patrick is not a favorite name because I don't like Pat. Patch is cute though...but will it stick for much longer? A high schooler named Patch, hmm. I think I like Peter better, though not a fave either. Pete...hmm, don't like that much better. I think I like Mark best. Doesn't matter now though :)
