Austin
WDYT of Austin for a boy? It's not my usual style-I'm into the more traditional names. My son is Andrew. But I do kind of like Austin. I also like that I read it can be a nickname for Augustine. Thanks for any replies!

It's a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a place, not a name, but I secretly love it.Rosemary.Pearl

I don't like this name at all. Actually I hate it. I don't care for Augustine either but that's because it's not my style.Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think of Austin as a traditional name, if for no other reason than British politician Austin Chamberlain. I believe he lived during Victorian times, but he could be early 20th century too. I much prefer Augustine / Augustus / August. But Austin is nice too.

One example of Austin as another name for Augustine is in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, when the narrator references Austyn, meaning St. Augustine.Honestly, it's not my favorite. I feel like it's a little past it's prime right now, having peaked in the early 90s. I don't think the sound is especially pleasing, and I'd think of the city in Texas before Augustine. Also, I'm not a fan at all of themed initial sets for siblings. Anrew and Austin would be entirely too close for brothers. I would probably try to avoid anything that starts with A since your son is Andrew, to be honest.Augustine itself isn't so bad (if not for pairing it with Andrew), but I actually really like Augustus.

I agree with this actually-I don't really like siblings with the same initials either. But for some reason I've been thinking about Austin lately.
