Llywelyn
What do you think? I've really loved this name for a long time as it's quirky and has great historical links but I get the feeling that most other people...won't. =) It's properly pronounced like 'hluhwelin' or 'hloo-el-in' (sorry if that's not very clear, I'm not really very good at explaining these things) but can also be said 'LEW-wel-lin' I think. Also which spelling do you prefer? Llewelyn, Llewellyn, Llywellyn or Llywelyn?

My second grade teacher was named Mrs. Llewellyn, so it's always sounded very surname-y to me. But I like that spelling best because we had to learn how to spell her name for a spelling test, so that always looked like the "correct" spelling to me. :-D

When I was little..I always wanted to name a daughter Llywellyn in honour of Stormy Llywellyn, a character in the book Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. I'm assuming you're thinking of this for a boy, however. I think it's quite a lovely name, if not a little feminine. I prefer the Llewelyn spelling.

As far as I can explain it, it's pronounced like 'hluhwelin' or 'hloo-el-in'. Can also be said 'LEW-wel-lin' but I think that's less 'correct'.

Llywelyn is different to me since I'm not all to familiar with Welsh names. I like it though. I think I like the Llywelyn best.

Since you live in Wales..I like it. I hear it quite often in the states as LEW-wel-in. I think it would quite cute for you to use it. Llewelyn is the way I would spell it.

I think Llewelyn is the spelling most likely to get the correct pronounciation.

I agree--this spelling seems the 'most correct' to me for some reason, though I've also seen Llewellyn from time to time. But the fewer L's possible, the better, I think. :b

Yes I agree. I think that's the one I'm favouring at the moment anyway because the nickname Llew makes more sense then. =)

I thought it was le-well-lin (le not lew). But maybe that was just how I /wanted/ it to sound...:-)I prefer Llewella to Llewellyn.

I like it, and would personally use it as a middle name. I love the letter L. I prefer the spelling Llewellyn, and would pronounce it LOO-wuh-lin, and probably say the "wuh" fast so it would sound like LOO-w-lin
