Naming my new daughter....
We love the name Alora.
I cannot find the meaning anywhere in fact I cannot locate it anywhere.
Has anyone heard it before, is it spelled correctly?
he first time I heard it was in a movie called "Willow" The baby princess was named Alora Danon. Since then I have loved it. I would like to have any sort of meaning or history that is available, if you can help....
Thank you,

Hello, my duaghters name is also Alora, we were just researching the name on the internet. We also named her after the baby in the movie Willow. I have no idea what the meaning is either. One of the problems we have encountered is finding little trinkets and things that are prefabricated. The name is not that common and it`s hard to find things like key chains and bracelets and things like that.

Hi,That's where we got the name for our daughter, Alora too! I am
trying to find out what it means also. But I do have a Scottish
friend who says the name is of Celtic origins (Irish and Scottish)
and that the correct spelling is Elora or Ilora. I like you, preferred a variation Alora. Plus we just sounded it out the way
we thought we heard it.Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your baby!Kathleen

Hi,
My name is Alora. I was named after my Mother's best friend. I too have tried to find the meaning of my name and to no avail. There is a region in the Malaga area of Spain that is called Alora. Over the years a few of the women I have met have chosen to name their daughter Alora. I do know that the Alora I was named after dated Frank Sinatra and if you read the book titled something like My Way you will see the name in print. In Italian there is a word like "alorra"(spelling) that means Now or pronto. Most people who here the NOW definition think I was appropriately named. Sorry I cannot be of more help to you - over the years your daughter will just love her name even though most people never hear the "A". Alora M.

I also loved the name Alora, and named my daughter that when she was born April 22nd, 2000. I have also tried to look up the meaning, the closest I got was Aldora, which is English. Sorry! I guess our daughter's will be unique.I have met within the last year 2 other little girls. They are very spunky, spontanious and independent! We can use that as a meaning. Ha, Ha,congratulations, and good luck with your little Alora.P.s I picked the middle name of Lois. Isn't that catchy!
IF i find anything, I will be sure to e-mail

I love that movie! I've always loved it and the name Elora Danen. But like you, I thought it was spelled Alora. After doing some research on the word "Elora", I've found that there are some caves in the East Indies which bear the name Ellora. However, they are quite commonly spelled Elora. This information is available on the net. Apparantly these caves were believed to have been hollowed out between the 4th and 9th century and contain several religious temples in them. I hope this helps. If you ever find out for certain what it means, I'd love to know!Jennifer

I loved that name also! I liked it because to me it was unique. I am not really big on common names. I heard the name in Willow also, and on April 22nd,2000 Alora Lois was born! I could only come up with Aldora in findings. Sorry! But, I have met two other little girls since then who were named Alora also. They were both spunky, and independent! Maybe we can start our own meaning! Ha, HaCongrats and good luck with your little Alora,

My sister's naming one of her twins.....My sister has chosen the names Adalie Rey and Alaura Dawn for her twin girls. We also heard the name Elora Danan from "Willow". We liked the spelling Alaura because we think it looks 'distinguished'. It's a great name, no matter which way you spell it! We also thought of these spellings:Elora
Elaura
Ellora
Ellaura
Alora
Alaura
Allora
Allaura
Illaura
IloraWe still like Alaura best. Also... are you going with Danan for the middle name? I like it spelled Dannen, but I just love the name Elora Danan! Good luck!
