I was given this name by my parents in 1964. My mom wanted to spell it differently as...Dayleen but my father didn't want people to shorten my name to dayle. They agreed to spell it Dailene. However, as it turns out everyone just calls me Dai(Day). n

The simplest answer is Dail [< Dale] with the the feminine, diminutive ending, -ene.

"Dailene" is possibly an invented name. It might've started out as "Darlene", and then somebody substituted the "r" for an "i" to change the name slightly. Or it could have been created by blending "Daisy" with any of a number of feminine names ending in "-lene".In the year 1999, the U.S. Social Security Administration reported only 5 baby girls having been named "Dailene". In the year 2000, there were fewer than 5 (if any) U.S. baby girls given that name.-- Nanaea

My theory is that someone wrote Darlene in script with that kind of script r that looks more like an i without a dot. Then Social Security read it, and voila! Dailene. My theory and what it is too.
