Daughter of?
My daughter is looking for a name that will be aceptable to Equity and can not use our surname or that of lots of generations back as they all seem to be taken. Is there a female equvalent to Peterson ( as in son of Peter)? It would be great if we could find an old english "daughter of" or similar.

The Icelandic way of saying "daugher of" would amount to "Petersdottir," if I'm not mistaken. It's the same concept as the other ideas listed before mine. :-)

The fem form of Peter was Petronella, and when used as a surname it was shortened down to Parnell. Could open a few Irish historical wounds, but I see no reason why she shouldn't give it a try!

Hi Suzy,The Old English word for daughter is 'dohtor', so maybe the female equivalent to Peterson could be Petersdohtor?Regards, Satu

Indeed, it would be Peterdohotr or Petersdohotor.
