Kira/Kyra/Cyra
Does anyone know about the meanings of the female names Kira, Kyra, and Cyra? Are they related, or is it possible that they came from different sources? there seem to be A LOT of different meanings out there for these names, and some of them are not related at all. My understanding was that Cyra came from the male name Cyrus, meaning "sun" or "Sun God", and that Cyra was the Goddess of the Moon. However, I have also seen websites that list Cyra/Kyra as feminine of Cyrus and say that BOTH names' meanings are "the sun." I've also heard that it means "the dark haired" and "the light".
any help with this would be appreciated :)

well, I was actually just looking at that. because, well, Kira is my name :-D anyway, mostly, what i found was that it stood for sun, or light. comes from latin or old english. in japanese, however, kirar-kira can mean something along the lines of glittering or twinkle-twinkle
