Please list your sites, and your proof.Asherah is an ancient Goddess... I don't understand how it would be accepeted in Jewish culture. SO I'd like to see your references and proof.

Anat is also an ancient goddess, and the name is very trendy just now because it is seen as "little answer" (a Biblical male name that is used nowadays on girls).
http://www.onlysimchas.com/galleries/index.cfm?fuseaction=simchasearch&fn=AnatAshera / Ashira, apparently, is "rare" and is acceptable because it is seen as a female form of Asher. I don't think it is possible to disagree because it is a fact. I also found it: http://www.hebrewletters.com/item.cfm?itemid=1255
And you can see Jewish people called like this here: http://www.onlysimchas.com/galleries/index.cfm?fuseaction=simchasearch&fn=AshiraMy sources are what I know (Jewish names are my "speciality"), the people I see and also the book "Le livre des prénoms bibliques et hébraïques" by Rabbi Marc-Alain Ouaknin and Rebbetzin Dory Rotnemer. Now maybe the people I know with this name are all wrong even if they know Hebrew or even are Israeli. But I don't think so.

Asherah still really doesn't match the spelling variations of Ashera..However, if it is, Asherah is still first and foremost a Goddess name, and seondly a feminine form of Asher. Its not one or the other.
