Someone who knows the meanings?
Two of my favorite books are "Material World" and "Women in the material world", big photo books in which you can visit families from all over the world. But...since I'm a name freak, I'd like to know the meanings of all the names in the books! :) I wonder if you can help me...MALI: Girls called Tata, Pai and Toure, boys called Kontie and Mama. The family belongs to the Bozo people.
ETHIOPIA: Girl called Like (LEE-kay), boys called Teshome, Mamoosh and Kebebe. The family belongs to the Oromo people.
JAPANESE: Girl called Maya (all I find about this name is "an ancient people in Mexico and Guatemala", but I doubt this is the Japanese meaning of the name! :))
CHINESE: Male names: Ba Jiu, Wen De and Wen Bin. Female names: Yu Xian, Jian Chun and Xi.
INDIA: Man called Bachau, girl called Arti
BHUTAN: Male names: Namgay, Kinley, Chato, Tandin, Kado. Female names: Bangum, Zekom, Sangay Zam
THAILAND: Male names: Boontham, Visith, Vichai. Female names: Buaphet, Jeeraporn
UZBEKISTAN: Kazakh girl called Zulphiya
HAITI: Male names: Dentes and Soifette. Female names: Lucemanne and Timenne
SAMOA: Male names: Auseuga, Alatupe and Uiti. Female names: Faaleo, Fuao, Laufafa and Paugata
