Is Fleur used in France?
It's absurd enough in English, I'm curious as to whether it's actually used in the France.

Yes it is. And it's completely legit, as it's a saint name.I don't think it's an absurd name at all (and I am French).

I don't find it absurd either, and I speak English. Perhaps I can ask, what is so absurd about it? It has been used in countries for many years and is legitimate and is not the same as naming an English-raised child Flower.

I think it's basically the same. Although in the english-speaking world "Blossom" is more common. In Japan they use "Hana", even in Germany "Blume" can be used as a female name.
Therefore imho Fleur isn't any more absurd than any of those, it's just a question of liking "word-names" or not.Fleur is not extremely popular in France though, but Harry Potter might change that a bit ;)

I live in France and have never met a Fleur.
