Re: Nephele and Circe

Indeed, I have a daughter with that name:)
Well, there really is no rule as to how to *correctly* pronounce names. Nephele in the US would be pronounced NEH eh lee, in Greece it would be nef EL lee and, presumably, in France nef el LEE.
As for Circe (KIPKH in Greek), the original pronunciation would be KEER kee which, understandably, could be awkward to the unaccustomed ear :)

I adored the name “Nephele” the first time you introduced me to it, bro’. In fact, I’ve swiped it for my own use as my goth name (I poetically tell folks it means “shrouded in mist”).
How have you been? How’s the family? I’ve missed you. I’ve been wandering the ‘net like a pale ghost, anagramming dark names for goths on various sites. You’re often in my thoughts, O King of Anagrams.

If you can read greek fonts: ÍåöÝëç :)
The accent is in the 2nd syllable.
Pronounce it correctly, or I shall unleash the wrath of Zeus unto thee :)

oh no! Not the Wrath of Zeus!
but how do you say it? Would I be getting sniggers and ribbing from the onomastically inclined such as the regular posters here if I were to use it and pronounce it NEF eh lee and not the original Greek way? I know when it gets down to it, it only matters that I like it, but I like to be true to the original form as much as possible, and if not that then at least widely accepted (ie Circe)
In fact in France it would be neh-feh-leh and seer-seh :)
