Heard of mn Dimian?
Does anyone know of the origins of the name Dimian (pronounced Dim-E-an)?
It could be Egyptian or Russian, not too sure.Thanks.nil

I know of the Russian Demyan, variant of Damian, probably from the Greek daman 'to tame, subdue' (which was often a euphemism for 'to kill'). The pronunciation matches, so I would assume Demian would be an attempt to Anglicise the Russian form.Devon
