While doing research on a family from Pie Town, New Mexico, I came across the name "Velva". It was the name of one of the preachers' daughters, who was born in the 1930s. The other names in the family were all established names (no "made up" names), so I assume that Velva must have a meaning, unless she was named after Velva, North Dakota. Even then you would assume that Velva, ND, had a meaning for the name.
