My Name's Meaning On Site...
So, I wanted to know why does Sahar on the database means 'dawn'? Let me explaine my question- I live in Israel, and my family came from Morocco (In which they speak an Arabic dialect. In this dialect, the meaning of 'Sahar' is not 'dawn'. Neither in Egyptian dialect or the dialect spoken in Israel. Furthermore, in Arabic (at least the one I learnt, which is the Egyptian dialect) there is the word 'shahara' which means 'month' and in the Islam, which is the main religion of Native Arabic Speakers if I'm not mistaken, the month is decided by the shows of the moon (full moon etc.).
In Hebrew, Sahar (סהר) means 'moon'. Therefore, I'm pretty sure the meaning here is wrong. Then again, I may be in the wrong and it might mean 'dawn', too. So, could you please let me know what is the origion of the information on my name here? It's really interesting, since my sister's name is 'Shachar' (שחר), and that means 'dawn' in Hebrew. So, yeah. Thanks for your help!

Since I know no Arabic, you can probably check these dictionaries out and explain why they give "dawn" as a possible meaning.Arabic: http://dictionary.sakhr.com/SearchResults.aspx?Lang=A-E&TextBox1=%D8%B3%D8%AD%D8%B1
Urdu: http://www.urdu-dictionary.info/learn-urdu/urdu-word-seen.aspI do not know whether the name comes from the magician meaning or the dawn meaning, but your question was about whether dawn is a possible meaning.

Actually, I was hoping you would post an explanation of what those dictionaries are saying: is it a word from a different origin, a special use, etc.; or are these dictionaries not detailed enough?
