Re: Meaning of Anvi (Female name, Indian background)
Here, I found this on a website that might help to clear things up. The baby boy or baby girl name Anvi comes from the Indian word which means, "One of Devi's names." Indian word which means, "meaning of anvi is goddess of forest.." Gujarati word which means, "A new invention for the first time called Anvi.." Hindi word which means, "First letter of mother's name i.e. Anjani(An) & father's Visvajit(vi)."Someone also suggested the name is an Marathi word which means, "The First Ray Of Rising Sun." Australian word which means, "Having the power." Unknown word which means, "Beautiful Soul." India word which means, "a kind person!."This was the site if you want to check it out. http://www.birthvillage.com/Name/Anvi"Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."

Clearly these are all speculative, and non-fact based. the meaning of "meaning" itself eludes them let alone Anvi.the closest is the entry (if we ignore the "meaning" and subsitute "derivation") referring to first syllables of the parent's names (and therefore meaningless), for which we have some documented evidence (albeit later) "new parents Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have named their little angel Anvi." (and in actual fact it turns out they named her Vamika, not Anvi)

Anvi is the name derived or changed some places over a period of time from the name ammi. It means amman or kaali. Especially kaali the godess devoted in such a place with terrific ambience , like forest, kavu ( where devoting snakes). So some called the godess vanadurga ( godess of forest) amman/ ammi/ mariamman all same.

I have not been able to find the source of any of the Indian meanings given above. Its phonotactics is right, but I can't find an etymology in Sanskrit. I have not heard the word, and have not met a person with than name, and my best guess is that it is a name patterned after other common names (e.g., tanvi) or that it is a name with a meaning in some regional language (e.g., Hindi/Marathi/etc.; since I know Hindi, I can say it is not a common Hindi word).Just to be clear, my previous post which gave the meanings "to join" etc., was talking about the verbal root from which nouns could be derived and verbs could be declined; anvi is not a noun with that meaning in Sanskrit.

Hi, my name is anvi
as far as i know, its another name for the goddess of forest, and some even say it symbolises the first ray of the sun, kindness and warmth.

I agree that this name is made up imitating "Tanvi," otherwise "Anvita" rather than "Anvi" could have some meaning.
