Anaïs - from Anaitis?
I have a somewhat scholarly name book (Llewellyn's Complete Book of Names by K. M. Sheard) that claims Anaïs is a French form of Anaitis, the Hellenised form of Anahita. Is there any truth behind this? Behind the Name says Anaïs derives from Anna.

Most probably Anais is derived from Anaitis. If from Anna, so let prove what is the ending -is and why N is not geminated.
