Xochitl
How is this name pronounced? One of my teachers, who has been to Mexico many times, said that it's hoh-CHIT-l, other say so-CHEEL or sho-CHEEL. What is right? How is "x" pr. in old Aztec/Nahuatl names? Like "h" or "ch" or "sh"?

sho-CHEE-tlXochitl is prn sho-CHEE-tl. The X in the Nuhua language is prn. like the "SH" sound in english phonetics.
Some phonetics are explained here http://www.ulsa.edu.mx/public_html/publicaciones/onteanqui/b12/lengua.htm But the page is in Spanish.Hope this helps,

At least in South Texas, it seems to be most commonly pronounced as S0-Shee. But it's not a very common feminine name. Dennis Kirsch.
