the meaning of riley is valient warrior. I think that if you have a girl than you should name her riley because its like the coolest name ever. Or the names maryanne or miranda are very good too.

Riley is also a spelling variation of the Irish surname Reilly, which goes back to Gaelic Raghallach or Rogallach, the name of a king of Connacht who died in 648. The original meaning of that seems to be unknown, but I would bet that "valiant warrior" is someone's guess as to the original meaning of the Irish name.

Riley just means "rye clearing" in Old English, nothing more.
This is not a board for voicing opinions on the aesthestics of names, btw. (Though I do agree with your assessment of the name Miranda. ;-)) Go next door for that.
