Question on Madeline!
My husband and I are having a little girl this summer and we are planning on naming her Madeline... Now, I was planning on pronouncing it Mad-e-line (like the girl from the children's books) which I think is a bit prettier than Mad-e-lyn. But most people seem to think that Mad-e-lyn is the correct pronunciation. (I think on this website it says "line" or either...)Does anyone know what the original pronunciation of Madeline is? I really like traditional spellings/pronunciations. (I know that the French spelling is Madeleine, pronounced more like "lehn.") The Mad-e-line pronunciation is my favorite but I don't want to use it if it's incorrect! I also don't want her to always have her name mispronounced. Thanks a lot for any answers!
