Pronunciation of the sur-name Sinjin
When I was in High school in 1977 I worked at MacDonalds. One of the Managers there had the sur-name St. John, e pronounced it Saint John. I was surprised to learn the British pronunciation is "Sinjin" I would bet money that if you called him David Sinjin he would not answer.

I know of an author named Patricia St. John, and she pronounces her name like "Sinjin". I suppose that this pronunciation makes it feel like a singular surname to those who have it.

Was she British? For some reason I think of that as a British (and maybe Commonwealth generally) pronunciation.I’m American and have never heard St. John said “Sinjin,” but I’ve heard of it from Brit & Aussie friends online.
