I know of an author named Patricia St. John, and she pronounces her name like "Sinjin". I suppose that this pronunciation makes it feel like a singular surname to those who have it.

Was she British? For some reason I think of that as a British (and maybe Commonwealth generally) pronunciation.I’m American and have never heard St. John said “Sinjin,” but I’ve heard of it from Brit & Aussie friends online.
