The name Kine
Here there When I gave the name to my last-born son 11 years ago, I gave him the name Nicolai. Great names and descendants of St. Nicolas, the same as me.
My name is Kine which is an anagram from Nike and is not related to Kristin, Cristina or any of those names!
What has changed since I was buying a cup with the meaning of my name 15 years ago and read about it in a book I bought 11 years ago when I baptized my son?
Someone has not done proper study when it comes to the origin of the name, and the other pages that offer "What does your name mean" have copied from each other.
Being born and having lived most of my life as "the victorious" from becoming "Christian" is something I absolutely do not like.
I think everyone named Kine deserves to know what their name really means. With best regards
Kine Hoff

Kine as used in Norway most likely derives from Kristine, Katrine, Mikine and similar names with phonetics that lend themselves to it. That is what the entry is there for. Baby name sites with that origin are probably copying, but for more research oriented sites, it's the same because it is onomastic consensus.

To be honest with you, anagrams as names are pretty rare. Not impossible, but rare. If someone liked Nike, they would probably just use Nike. If it were the case we might see more circumstantial evidence like anagram names becoming popular, or the name Nike itself becoming popular. Many name books and merchandise like cups will distort the truth or outright lie to you about your name to get you to buy them - especially merchandise. If you recall the name and author of the book, maybe we could check it for veracity.Unfortunately the origin of a name doesn't really come down to whether you like it or not. It's perfectly possible that your parents gave the name to you intending it as an anagram of Nike. That is fine but until we get evidence of this being widespread and that being the origin, we can't put it on the site.
