Russian name...
Is the name 'Makai" Russian? I like this name, and was just curious to know.

It sounds like a variation on Malachi or Micah, perhaps from a different language. I cannot be sure on that though.

I found this earlier thread on this board here about Makai:
http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=374254&board=genThe name does not sound Russian to me.The "Think Baby Names" website which in my opinion is one of the better "Baby Names" sites thinks Makai is a form of Michael. Well, why not, but hard to tell without further information backing this up:

I was also assuming that Makai came from Michael or Mikhail.

Never heard of that name.. Why do you think it's Russian? :) It doesn't seem to be...

Well, if Makai isn't Russian, does anyone know what kind of a name is it?

I would guess it's Hawaiian...but I don't know the meaning, sorry. Surrealism is the magical surprise of finding a lion in a wardrobe where you were sure of finding shirts - Frida Kahlo
