DH [46] Emmett Ohannes Avakian
DW [42] Anna Louisa Clarke DH's DS [16] Ari Elijah Avakian
DW's DS [13] Lucas Byron Clarke
DW's DD [10] Sylvia Natalie Clarke Emmett is a pediatrician at the local hospital. He specializes in care for children with cancer and leukemia. His grandfather was Armenian, but he's never been to the country. In his free time, he coaches his son's soccer team. He met Anna through work. He wants to raise a child with her, and adoption makes the most sense to both of them.Anna is a social worker. Her family is thoroughly American-- she's lived in the same town her whole life. She is a member of the book club and is the leader of an advocacy group for children's literacy. She was working with one of Emmett's patients when she met him. Although she had two children with her late husband, it was always her dream to adopt, since she was adopted, herself. Ari is Emmett's only (biological) child. His mother left him with his father when he was just a baby. He is the goalkeeper on the school soccer team. He is best in his math and science classes, and he hopes to work as a biochemist someday. Lucas is Anna's oldest. He is rather artistic-- in this he takes after his father, a musician, who died when he was three. He performs in musical theater and loves video games. He does not really like school as much. Sylvia is Anna's second child. She is very serious and conscientious, and is much quieter and more studious than her brother. She likes to read and write, especially poetry. She dreams of having a pet horse. Emmett and Ari belong to the Orthodox church. Anna is more secular, but she and her children will go to church with the other two on holidays. Emmett speaks only English, Anna speaks English and American Sign Language. Preferred number of children: They would prefer just one, but they would not want to split up a family and would adopt any siblings.
Gender preference: None
Age preference: Anna was adopted when she was 12, and so she would like to adopt a pre-teen or young teenager.
Nationality and/or language preference: They would prefer to adopt locally, within the US. They would prefer a child who knows English, but they would be willing to learn another language.
Religion preference: NoneSiblings: They would accept siblings, but they would prefer one child.
Multiples: The same as siblings.
Children with Disabilities/Illnesses: They would prefer to adopt a child with a disability, because when Anna was little, the fact that she had diabetes made a lot of families hesitant to take her in. She knows ASL, and has worked with blind children before.
Pregnant teens/teen parents: No
