Background: Ruarc was named by his Irish mother who had him young and gave him up. He was adopted by aristocratic English parents who took him to Costa Rica as a baby to live with them on their coffee plantation. He's now works in the sales of coffee and cocoa.
Esmeralda was raised by her grandparents in England, she's always lusted for a more exciting life so moved to Costa Rica after getting a teaching degree to make a difference.
Ru and Esme met and fell in love - this is their story...
Yr1: Ru and Esme haven't been dating long when Ru's parents are asked if he would consider taking in an orphaned girl from North America in danger of being deported due to her deceased mothers' Costa Rican heritage. Both knowing what it feels like to live without their biological parents, Ru and Esme agree to take her. Go out to meet her on her 1st birthday and bring her back to Costa Rica just a few short weeks later. Nina Leonor has wavy, brown hair and blue eyes.
Yr2: Meet the latest edition of the family - Stray Sandy!
Yr3: Never in love with the coffee industry, Ru quits his job and searches for his passion.
Yr4: With help from his parents, Ru goes to university to do a teaching degree.
Yr5: Stray Sandy has a friend... Meet Button
Yr6: Because they don't have enough pets... Warren
Yr7: 6 years after adopting Nina, Ru and Esme decide to adopt again. This time they go through the Costa Rican authorities and are matched with a 4 year old boy called Rafael Sebastian who has wavy, brown hair and brown eyes.
Yr8: Rafa's been begging for a dog since he was adopted and now his dream is finally coming true (because Esme can't stand the whinging anymore!) Hello Beau
Yr9: Ru and Esme both attend an important teaching conference in San Jose and meet several political heads and some of their idols in the educational research field.
Yr10: 7 year old Rafa fractures his ankle playing football. He's fine but has to be in cast for six weeks and on crutches for eight.
Yr11: Esme promoted to head of Key Stage 2.
Yr12: As part of her promotion package the year previous, Esme's school sends her on a six month exchange to America to learn more about the American curriculum. She missed Ru and the kids very much but they manage to fit in two visits to her while she's gone.
Yr13: Ru and Esme complete their family by adopting one last time. Adriana Ivelisse is a 9 year old orphan with curly, brown hair and brown eyes.
Yr14: They thought Addie would be their last... But to their utter shock, Esme is pregnant! She welcomes a perfect baby son after an uncomplicated pregnancy and labour. Henry Zane has wavy, blonde hair and blue eyes.
Yr15: "No more after this" Esme says... Hello newest pet, Michelle...
