Townhouse - Perth, Australia

Rowan and Leon have been friends since they were 7, and recently got married. Both are natives of Australia; Rowan works as a paramedic, whilst Leon is a primary school teacher.
Year 1 (2018)
Townhouse - Perth, Australia
Leon's always enjoyed writing, and so when one of the kids he teaches tells him that she wants to write a book, he has an idea. A few months later, Mr Audley's class have written a book, featuring writing from all the kids, but mostly written and entirely edited by Leon. The kids are absolutely thrilled when a kind local publisher agrees to print a copy for everyone in the class, and Leon gets a copy to take home as well.

Leon's little brother Sebastian moves in with Rowan and Leon when he needs somewhere to stay after a bad break-up. He's not meaning to stay there permanently, just for a few months until he finds his feet again, and Rowan and Leon are happy to help him out.

Rowan and Leon genuinely enjoy Sebastian's company, and so he ends up staying with them a lot longer than planned. About a year after he moves in, Sebastian introduces his new boyfriend, Mika. Mika's a writer from Finland, and when it turns out he needs a place to stay, Rowan and Leon are more than happy to welcome their (possible) future brother-in-law into their home.

Everyone is thrilled when Rowan announces that she's pregnant! After a fairly smooth pregnancy, she gives birth in June to a little baby boy who they name Casper, only for Sebastian to immediately nickname him 'Ghostie'.
Year 6 (2023)

Shortly after she returns to work, Rowan was caught up in a situation which left a lot of people severely injured. Although she was off-duty, she helped many of the injured, putting her own safety on the line, and she receives an award for her courage and selflessness. In addition, Shakespeare and Marlowe pass away, and although they lived pretty long for zebrafish, they are greatly mourned by everyone.
Year 7 (2024)
Cottage - Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Apartment - Glasgow, Scotland
The Audleys decide, rather spontaneously, to move to Scotland. They buy a cottage a little way out from the city of Aberdeen, say one last goodbye to the home where they started their family, and find new jobs pretty easily - there's a bit of a lack of teachers and medical staff in Scotland. Sebastian and Mika decide it's time for them to move as well, and they buy an apartment in Glasgow (I'm going to start rolling for them as well, because I'm kind of attached to them!). Little Casper misses living with 'Uncle Bash' and 'Uncle Miki' but they still visit each other regularly.
Year 8 (2025)
Cottage - Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Leon travels away for six months to work in a school in India, as part of an international teaching exchange program. While Rowan's happy for this step forward in her husband's career, she and Casper do miss him a lot, and visit Sebastian and Mika and Casper's new baby cousin more often to combat the occasional loneliness.

Casper thinks he might explode from excitement when his parents announce that he's going to have not 1, not 2, but 3 little sisters! He loves playing with Leonie, Imogen & Athena, and Matti seems to like them too. Rowan and Leon are glad the cottage has a few spare bedrooms and plenty of garden for the children to play in as they grow up.

Although maybe not as exciting as triplets, the Audley-Vanhanens are pretty happy when they adopt a small grey kitten, who Matti names 'Kisu', 'kitty' in Finnish. She's very sweet and loves to play. They're not quite sure about their landlord's policy on animals, but they're sure it will be fine.

Casper is super jealous of Matti's pet cat, and so after a lot of nagging, Rowan and Leon buy a fluffy golden bunny, who Casper names Sunny. He's started primary school, and gets really excited every time he sees his dad in the school corridors!

Although Sebastian loves creating and performing his own music, he's realised that now he has a child to support, it might be better to switch to something which could be more lucrative. He starts working with indie bands as a producer, and finds that he enjoys it almost as much as making his own music.

Rowan and Leon are more than a little surprised when they find out they're expecting again, but they're more than happy to welcome baby Alex in November anyway. Casper's worried the new baby will upset the way life is already, but the triplets are all very excited to meet their new brother.

Sadly, Mika's mother passes away, and he takes a trip back to Finland for two weeks to go to her funeral and spend time with his family. He's glad that she got to meet Matti, who's pretty devastated by the loss of his grandmother.

Just after Alex is born, Rowan finds out that she has inoperable cancer - she has a few months to live. She makes sure to spend her remaining time with her family, making memories with Casper and the triplets and taking care of her newborn son. It's tough on everyone when she passes away. Leon takes a few months off of work to be with the kids, and for a few weeks before Niko is born, Sebastian, Mika and Matti come to stay to help take care of everything.

About two months after Rowan's passing, Sebastian and Mika welcome a second son, Niko. Niko looks a lot more like Sebastian than Mika, and although everyone is still hurting from their loss, Niko helps to ease the pain a little.

The Audleys travel to Thailand for a month in the summer and enjoy the new culture they experience while they're there.

Leon decides to host a student from Aberdeen University for the four years of her course; Hanne is an 18-year-old engineering student from Norway. She gets along well with the kids, and is a helpful, considerate boarder. Leon's pretty grateful for her company - taking care of 5 kids alone and working doesn't leave much time for socialisation.

Mika's recently published a novel, and his family couldn't be prouder. However, it means that he has to travel away for 6 months on a book tour, visiting 6 continents to promote his novel. Sebastian occasionally struggles with 3 young kids, but they get through it, and Mika's return is a joyous occasion for everyone.

3 years after Rowan's death, Leon remarries. Catherine is French, and she runs a bakery in the city. Leon worries it's too soon to remarry, for Rowan's memory and for the kids, but Sebastian assures him that Rowan would want him to be happy above all, and Catherine's sunny personality and wonderful baking soon wins most of the kids over, although Casper is still a little suspicious. The wedding is a small, personal affair, just family (and Hanne) and although he misses Rowan, he's glad to have moved on.
Condo - Bucharest, Romania
The Audley-Vanhanen home is getting a little cramped, and when they begin to look for new homes, they find a lovely home. The only issue is, it's in Bucharest. After talking with 7-year-old Matti, they make the move, and the boys settle in surprisingly quickly.
Year 16 (2043)
Condo - Barcelona, Spain
The year after Leon and Catherine's marriage, the Audley family move to Barcelona. Leon takes a job as a radio host for an English-language station and Catherine finds work in an upmarket restaurant. Hanne finds accomodation elsewhere, but they stay in contact with her.

Casper is super jealous of Matti's pet cat, and so after a lot of nagging, Rowan and Leon buy a fluffy golden bunny, who Casper names Sunny. He's started primary school, and gets really excited every time he sees his dad in the school corridors!

Although Sebastian loves creating and performing his own music, he's realised that now he has a child to support, it might be better to switch to something which could be more lucrative. He starts working with indie bands as a producer, and finds that he enjoys it almost as much as making his own music.

Rowan and Leon are more than a little surprised when they find out they're expecting again, but they're more than happy to welcome baby Alex in November anyway. Casper's worried the new baby will upset the way life is already, but the triplets are all very excited to meet their new brother.

Sadly, Mika's mother passes away, and he takes a trip back to Finland for two weeks to go to her funeral and spend time with his family. He's glad that she got to meet Matti, who's pretty devastated by the loss of his grandmother.

Just after Alex is born, Rowan finds out that she has inoperable cancer - she has a few months to live. She makes sure to spend her remaining time with her family, making memories with Casper and the triplets and taking care of her newborn son. It's tough on everyone when she passes away. Leon takes a few months off of work to be with the kids, and for a few weeks before Niko is born, Sebastian, Mika and Matti come to stay to help take care of everything.

About two months after Rowan's passing, Sebastian and Mika welcome a second son, Niko. Niko looks a lot more like Sebastian than Mika, and although everyone is still hurting from their loss, Niko helps to ease the pain a little.

Leon decides to host a student from Aberdeen University for the four years of her course; Hanne is an 18-year-old engineering student from Norway. She gets along well with the kids, and is a helpful, considerate boarder. Leon's pretty grateful for her company - taking care of 5 kids alone and working doesn't leave much time for socialisation.

Mika's recently published a novel, and his family couldn't be prouder. However, it means that he has to travel away for 6 months on a book tour, visiting 6 continents to promote his novel. Sebastian occasionally struggles with 3 young kids, but they get through it, and Mika's return is a joyous occasion for everyone.

3 years after Rowan's death, Leon remarries. Catherine is French, and she runs a bakery in the city. Leon worries it's too soon to remarry, for Rowan's memory and for the kids, but Sebastian assures him that Rowan would want him to be happy above all, and Catherine's sunny personality and wonderful baking soon wins most of the kids over, although Casper is still a little suspicious. The wedding is a small, personal affair, just family (and Hanne) and although he misses Rowan, he's glad to have moved on.
Condo - Bucharest, Romania
The Audley-Vanhanen home is getting a little cramped, and when they begin to look for new homes, they find a lovely home. The only issue is, it's in Bucharest. After talking with 7-year-old Matti, they make the move, and the boys settle in surprisingly quickly.
Year 16 (2043)
Condo - Barcelona, Spain
The year after Leon and Catherine's marriage, the Audley family move to Barcelona. Leon takes a job as a radio host for an English-language station and Catherine finds work in an upmarket restaurant. Hanne finds accomodation elsewhere, but they stay in contact with her.

The Audley-Vanhanens move back to Mika's home town, Turku, and Sebastian leaves his job as a producer and runs a blog with Mika.
