A year of tragedy, and an interesting development for the Creeds and company. Death reared its ugly head once more in the form of a war in the Ashdown and Brandol territories. In one, Marquess Asa died fighting to fend off the rebels so that reinforcements could arrive. In the other, Marchioness Dido was captured and tortured to death in order to force Nicanor's hand. Both Aditi and Nicanor are utterly devastated by the deaths of their lovers and siblings, clinging to each other as their only hope. Aditi takes over her husband's role, as Nicanor is the only living Silverstone who is eligible, becoming the sole head of Ashdown Territory.
Some small semblance of comfort is brought to the Silverstone family in two persons: High Priest Shiloh, servant of Abriel, god of Death, for Aditi; and Baronetess Iridessa, whose family served as protectors of Brandol Territory before the crown came, for Nicanor.
Meanwhile, Prosper and Carolina are forced to legitimize their relationship through an engagement. However each is still knee deep in their own affairs, Prosper giving Marisol a Creed and a Xenon, and Ramses having to "adopt" three more children with an uncanny resemblance to him. His (forced) item of affection, Marchioness Briella, is unimpressed and done with his crap, so she is looking to expose him.
In other news, Orlando (who Callista has been keeping tabs on from afar) is moving up in the world, now courting Lady Arabela of Halloran, a well-off county closer to the capitol. She wishes him all the best, sorely reminded that Edric never got the same chance. Evander, however, is doing well at home. He wants to become a knight like Ezra, something Edric wanted to do.
Speaking of Ezra, he found his great grandfather's journal, in which he indicated infidelity. The result of that infidelity was Ezra's own grandfather, Sir Eleazer Creed. Frankly, Ezra is fine to keep this under the rug and rather unbothered. He doesn't tell anyone of his findings and simply removes those pages of the journal, burning them in the hearth.
