Emerance is an alternative spelling for Emerence.
Emerence is a Dutch and French form of Emerentia, the name of an early Christian martyr in Rome, from Latin emereri, “to earn, to merit.” Emerence was regularly used in both Quebec and the Netherlands in the 19th century.
