I find the sound more appealing. Mary sound a bit dreary and boring to me, Maria is very overused is many countries (it's one of my MNs as well...). Marie is the best option, even though it's used too often for my taste as well.
I like Marie Antionette best, it just sounds lovely. Marie Alana wouldn' be bad either, but I hear Maria Lana when it's said out loud.
