[Opinions] Marie, Maria or Mary?
If you had to choose one of these names which one would you choose and why? Marie, Maria or Mary? Please only choose between these three.I used to love Mary, then it was Maria and now it's Marie. Probably because of Marie Antoinette. I think it needs an unusual or underused middle name. At the moment I like:Marie Alana (Marie or Alana)
Marie Antoinette
Marie Antonia
Marie IsabellaI also like:Noah Marie
Alana Mariebut it's kind of boring in the middle, isn't it?

Maria, Maria! It's sassier and a bit exotic, and it sounds so good as a little hyphenate (my favorite is Maria-Antonina).

MaryIt's the original.

Marion is probably older than Mary for another example

Like hell it is..Mariamne is probably the closest to the original. Mary is much more modern in comparison, probably more modern than Marie or Maria considering the English language was influenced by Latin and later by French.

No, it's not. It depends on the translation of the Bible. In my country it's Maria and in France it's Marie.

Maria - prettier and has more flair

Maria. It just sounds a lot better. I've started to love this name, even though I have trouble getting along with the Maria I know, it's still a lovely name.

Maria and Mary are both family names for me, but I really want to use Maria. I like the sound of it the best I guess.

I prefer Marie. It's lovely. I definitely think it's better as a FN. Out of your Marie combos, I like Marie Alana and Marie Isabella the best.

Marie is my favorite. I just think it's the prettiest/nicest. I only like it as a first name, though. It's definitely overused and boring as a middle name.I do like Mary as well, but dislike Maria (unless it's pronounced as "muh-rye-uh").

Mary - underused and classic.

My favourite is definitely Mary. Maria is OK, but not a name I would choose, and Marie is a bit unusual. So for me, it's Mary.

MariaMaria is the only form of the name that I like, the others (Mary, Marija, Marie...) are overused and boring to me. Maria is the one that I don't see that much.

MarieI find the sound more appealing. Mary sound a bit dreary and boring to me, Maria is very overused is many countries (it's one of my MNs as well...). Marie is the best option, even though it's used too often for my taste as well. I like Marie Antionette best, it just sounds lovely. Marie Alana wouldn' be bad either, but I hear Maria Lana when it's said out loud.

I absolutely adore Mary. Marie is my grandmother's name and I'm fairly sure I will never name my daughter after her, so Maria would be my second choice. Someone suggested Mary Rosamund Estel to me which I think is completely lovely. Mary goes with a lot of middle names so it's hard to pick just one I like.

Hmm, I love them all. As a first name, probably Maria. I also love Mary, but I like it as a double first name (Mary Anne, Mary Patricia, etc.). I only like Marie in the double first name Anne Marie or Annemarie.

I'm most fond of Mary, though I also admire Maria and Marie (especially the former).

MariaMary and Marie are sweet, but Maria is beautiful.

I'd have to say I agree with you. Marie - as a fn - is my favorite of the three. But as a mn it does nothing for me. And yes, you need a more interesting mn with it.

I pick Marie. Mary is too generic for me. Maria, along with Isabella, conjures up the image of a dark complexioned, middle-aged woman with a mustache.

Mary, though lately I've been favoring Marisol (not an option here though).Marie is definitely boring in the middle.

Mary, for sure. Maria is blech to my ears for some reason and Marie just isn't as classic as Mary. Marie Antoinette would be cool though. Noah Marie is pretty in theory, but yeah, Marie is very boring in the middle.

I don't know how I could possibly choose between those three. I love them all!! Hmm...if I had to choose, right at this very moment, I *think* I'd go with Maria simply for the reason I could call her Mari occasionally.Maria Isabella
Maria Katherine
Maria Genevieve
Maria Josephine
Maria Kristina
Maria Celestine
Maria Celeste
Maria CeciliaMarie Louise
Marie Josephine
Marie Caroline
Marie Evangeline
Marie AlexandraMary Cecilia
Mary Genevieve
Mary Katherine
Mary Evangeline
Mary Margaret
Mary Eloise
Mary Eleanor
Mary Jessamine*Marie is rather boring in the mn slot.

MaryBecause I think it's simple and classic and beautiful. Marie is too much stuck as a filler middle name, and while it'd be nice to see it as a fn, it's lost a lot of feeling for me. Maria seems more exotic, which I'm rarely into because I'm boring I guess. :PI've always thought Marie Antoinette was really pretty. Too bad it's attatched to a specific person. Marie Isabella is really pretty too.
