The birth of Maximus and Aureliana's first children was a long and arduous one. Aureliana labored for over two days, with Maximus pacing night and day outside her door. Both girls were born alive, but Aureliana and the younger twin, Aurelianilla, hovered near-death for days from loss of blood. Maximus dutifully makes sacrifices to the goddesses Diana, Lucina, and Decima, and miraculously, all three girls survive
