Alex Appleton, who, in addition to performing nose jobs for LA celebrities, is one of the best reconstructive surgeons for burn victims in the country, met his future wife, the 22 year-old Vita - his patient/client at the time - when he was 29. Vita, born and raised in Latvia, was a fashion model for serious magazines and avant-garde designers. When she recovered from her surgery, Alex asked her on what would become one of many dates. They married when he was 31 and she was 24 - and three months pregnant with their first son. Leander, sometimes called Andy, most enjoys mathematics at school, and is an avid collector and enthusiast of the Rubik's cube and its many variations. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at age 9. Perseus, sometimes called Percy, is two years his junior - energetic and charming, he most enjoys playing beach volleyball and begging his parents to get him a dog. Calypso, sometimes called Callie, enjoys going to the beach, catching insects, and wreaking havoc on her poor dolls, who usually end up disected. Alex is a lapsed Catholic, Vita unenthusiastically Lutheran - their children are baptised and attend church on Easter and Christmas.
