I was reading a book about
Jacob (
Israel) and all of his sons and his daughter. When
Asher was born the book said he was named after the goddess
Asha, which was a big joke among the wives because
Asha was a patron of women and the like. I don't know if this is true or not (I would guess not) but I thought you might find it interesting. The book was "The
Red Tent" by
Anita Diamant.
