In my accent,
Erin's identical to
Aaron. Therefore I dislike it, since I don't generally like female names that sound like male names, just as I dislike male names on girls. (
Frances is an exception to this, I admit.)
However,
Erin has dropped in popularity and is pretty unusual nowadays. If you want to honour your Irish heritage, it's a more original name than the trendy--if pretty--genuine Irish names (
Caoimhe, etc) or the pseudo-Irish names (
Meghan, etc).
I can't think of any mns for
Erin at the moment, sorry.
