Ten years after Clover was born, the Pulsifer-Device family was doing well and had even welcomed a few new members. Hal went away to school in London at 18 and almost immediately fell in love with his pretty upstairs neighbor, Margot Rosemary McLeod. Margot and Hal dated all through college and got engaged and soon married after their graduation. They had their twins about a year later; Duncan Malcolm and Agnes Elspeth were bright and happy and mostly spent their days playing in Hal's little workshop. Hal was a stay-at-home dad, using his engineering degree to invent and occasionally do contract work for big companies; Adam Young's wildly successful Fortune 500 was a frequent patron.
The other children were off in the world. Freddie was the lead singer and guitarist of a rock band on the bring of fame. Star moved to New York soon after graduating high school and had already starred in two Broadway musicals. Elanor was going off to university soon and wanted to study to be a teacher. Quinn was in his sulky teenage phase, usually moping about El going off and leaving him with just Clover and their parents. Clover adored her big brother and followed him around everywhere.
