The only form I really like is Maria. I don't like Mary on it's own at all.
My granny was Mary and her daughter (my aunt) was also Mary (she would be in her mid-sixties now and my granny would be 95).
There is a woman at work in her late 30s or early 40s called Mary.
My brother had two Marys in his year (they'd be 30 now).
A friend's girlfriend is Mary and she is only about 20.
I have known a lot of Marys in the past, but can't think of any others off the top of my head. I associate it with women aged at least 40, even though I do know some younger women called Mary. I cannot really picture it on a child at all.
Although I think of Marie and Maria as being popular names, I don't think I know any in real life.
