I see nothing wrong with using it as long as you do provide a full, classic mn,as in the vintage name-era English actress
Jessie Margaret Matthews.
But when she asks you what it means I'd be tempted to make it a version of
Jean, like the Scots do, rather than a truncated
Jessamine or
Jessica, which might make her feel cheated of the full version.
Jessamine is less common than
Jessica but sounds a tad twee; you could spell it like
Jessamyn West to stress the pronunciation.
Jessica is widely used but it's become a classic, and would probably be shortened by her friends to
Jess rather than
Jessie.
Jessica is my second choice, but
Jessie marks her as an individual from the beginning, and not just yet another
Jessica trying to find an identity that distinguishes her from namesakes
Which name would you rather have?
Jessie since you like it so much and want to use it
Which name would you use? Ditto
Which images/colors do you get from them? Deep rich orange - all J words are that colour to me
How do you imagine the parents?
Jessamine's = trying too hard;
Jessamyn's = fans of
Jessamyn West;
Jessica's = nice normal everyday people;
Jessie's ditto plus down-to-earth
