According to my Filipino husband, the sound is totally different in Tagalog than the name Anakin is pronounced. In Tagalog the name would sound like ah-NAK-in instead of anna-kin, like the Star Wars character. Or more correctly ah-NAK a-KEENG.

Anak means "son" and akin is modern slang for "mine", but aking is the correct term for "my". He thinks the connection is cool and the name Anakin is interesting. He said that the connection to Filipino is a nice find but likely not correct since it combines a traditional word and a modern word.
