Re: The names that got away
Luca - I wanted it for my first son, but OH vetoed it after agreeing to it in the early stages. He then let me have my second choice after a difficult birth. He said later on he would have agreed to anything at that point. Thistle - was supposed to be my second daughter's middle name, in honour of our home in Scotland (we now live abroad), but OH thought it was too out there. About 9 months after she was born he agreed to change it due to the upcoming Independence Referendum in Scotland, but by then I had cold feet. Could still change it, I guess. Rowan - was our girl's choice for the boys, but when I had a daughter I was put off by the fact that it's unisex and it has two pronunciations in Scotland. Still like it, but wouldn't use it as a first name.Torin - too similar to our surname. Names I'll never get to use because i'm done with babies - Magnus, Rune, Ronan, Azure, Wylda, Iris, Alba. Mum to Mousie, Foo, Bumptious and Pudding
Proper names are poetry in the raw. Like all poetry they are untranslatable. - W.H. Auden
