Re: Matilda and Sherlock
in reply to a message by Howie
1. Matilda Frances is a great combo, I've always thought the two go really well together. I also think it works really well with Cordelia Edith Jane, I can actually picture sisters Cordelia and Matilda. Vintage but slightly magical too. 2. I think Matea is okay as a nn for Matilda, but I'd imagine if Mattie didn't stick, Matea would be even more of a push. I also pronunciation it Ma-TAY-uh, which is a valid pronunciation to my knowledge.3. Sarah Matilda Frances is nice enough, and both names would have 2 middles too, although I do prefer Matilda as a first.4. I absolutely love Sherlock as a middle for so many reason I won't go into, but I've had Sherlock as a middle for my favourite boys' name for about 2 and a half years now. I think Nathaniel Sherlock is actually super handsome! Of course the surname makes it difficult, but Nathaniel Sherlock Hugo is dashing, and I've always thought 2 middles are better than one anyway haha.

2. You're probably right. I just really like Mattea / Matea and neither of us have the background for it. 4. Yes, I thought you might like it. ;) In fact, your combo was part of why I thought of putting it in a middle slot (even if I was doing it jokingly at the time (which doesn't mean I think your combo is laughable--I actually think it's pretty cool)). I think seeing it in your combination has made it seem more real-life-workable, since it got me thinking of it applied not to a ACD/BBC character. The fact that my fiance and I love the show doesn't hurt either. :P
